Going for Great in 2008 Jamboree
The 2007 GDA Jamboree was hosted by ICRISAT in June. Participants celebrated Centers’ successes thus far, and shared lessons and exchanged tips, tools and resources to further embed inclusion into the fabric of the CGIAR organizations. It was designed also to help GDAs prepare for the next round of challenges, hence the theme, “Going for Great in 2008”.
The focus of the 2007 GDA Jamboree was on helping Centers ramp up their goals, to gain as much ground as possible before the stocktaking research is conducted in 2008. It had the benefit of over 40 enthusiastic GDAs from 14 Centers. It also had the benefit of contributions by the CGIAR Chair (Kathy Sierra); the Acting CGIAR Director (Fionna Douglas), and the CGIAR Alliance Executive Chair (Emile Frison), plus special sessions with ICT/KM, SAS-HR, and CAS/IP; all together framing our work on gender and diversity issues within the larger context of CGIAR priorities, reforms and resources.
The Gender & Diversity Program is sincerely grateful to Dr William Dar and the ICRISAT team for hosting this jamboree; their gracious hospitality made the event productive, comfortable and fun. G&D is also grateful to all Center leaders who supported their GDAs’ participation and is looking forward to their continued support over the next 18 months to ensure each Center gains the greatest progress possible.
