System Office of the CGIAR

Description
The HIV/AIDS pandemic is a pressing challenge for the CGIAR. It affects the health of friends, colleagues and partners, the quality of research, and ultimately, prosperity and development throughout the world. In light of these challenges, G&D produced policy guidelines on HIV/AIDS in the workplace in 2001 and surveyed centers on their implementation in 2002. Many centers have made significant progress in policy development and adoption, but most lack implementation. Recognizing that HIV/AIDS involves rapidly changing scenarios for health insurance and the availability of drugs, as well as cultural norms and taboos, G&D offers center-specific analysis and assistance to ensure that recommended workplace policies and practices are implemented are fully as feasible.
